SD super star Magento dev Phillip Jackson speaks at NYC Magento Meetup. Here is what he had to say.

This past Tuesday I was invited to speak at the NYC Magento Meetup – a group of about 90 technologists and ecommerce professionals – to give a talk about the virtues of developing on a platform.
In late 2008, while I was working with my former company, I was confronted with the decision of developing custom software or using an ecommerce platform. I chose Magento to power a market-leading health brand’s web presence. After a decade of successful ecommerce presence the it was time to leave SaaS solutions behind and to take the technology for the online store in-house, resulting in an immediate positive impact to conversion rate and average order value.
In this presentation I extol the Virtues of Platform Development from the position of a developer; how the use of a sophisticated platform like Magento helped me to iterate quickly, react to changes in demand in the marketplace, and ultimately made me a better developer.
